Phlebotomy is the practice of drawing blood from a blood vessel. Blood is usually drawn from a vein, typically a vein in the arm or back of the hand. A phlebotomist is someone who draws blood from patients and takes the blood specimens to the laboratory to prepare for further medical testing.
SLS N.V. has five phlebotomy centers on the island, with the Cay Hill location being the “main location”. All samples collected at the remote phlebotomy centers are transported within a defined time and under appropriate conditions to the laboratory (main location). Upon arrival, samples are sorted and distributed to the respective departments for further testing. No matter the test request, the patient can visit any phlebotomy center closest to them.
In total there are 16 certified phlebotomists with vast experience employed at SLS N.V. A selected few of these phlebotomists are also qualified to draw blood from babies and children.
